Journey to Friendsville
Board games are a wonderful way to teach social skills, but many counselors don’t have the time to play a traditional board game with their clients. This board game teaches social skills in 15 minute increments through a fun journey towards making rewarding friendships. Each time the game is played a different deck is used, and each deck teaches a different social skill such as peace making, having a positive attitude, and treating others fairly. Players win when they populate Friendsville with good friends, but they have to watch out that they don’t break social rules and end up in Zombieville. A Social Skills Checklist makes it easy for counselors to keep track of a child’s progress.

Escape Form Anger Island
It is difficult to teach children anger management skills, but it can be done with patience and practice. This game is designed with the busy counselor in mind, and it takes just 15 minutes to play. Players try to escape from Anger Island (and a pursuing dinosaur) by learning one of six anger management techniques, such as self-calming, communicating feelings, and creating compromises. Each skill is represented by a different island where players have to land to win a reward. One skill is worked on in each 15 minute counseling session and activities are suggested for practice in between sessions. Counselors keep track of each child’s progress with an Anger Management Checklist. A fun and inventive way to help kids learn about anger.
