Buddy experiences the death of his granddad and participates in the ceremonies and events that follow. When Buddy and his father learn of granddad's passing, they examine the meaning of death and share their grief. Buddy subsequently attends the funeral and accompanies his family to the graveside and the reception. The school counselor assures Buddy that all of his feelings are okay and suggests he join a grief group. The story is accompanied by questions to stimulate discussion of important issues.
